Beast Turn in a Solid Defensive Effort in Loss to Rapid City

November 5, 2017 - ECHL (ECHL)
Brampton Beast News Release

RAPID CITY, SOUTH DAKOTA - Brampton Beast goaltender Andrew D'Agostini turned in another stellar performance and gave his team a chance to win with 36 saves but Kenton Miller scored a pair of goals for the Rapid City Rush as they eked out a 3-1 win over the Beast in Rapid City on Saturday night.

Chris Leveille scored the only goal for the Beast, who finish their three-game road trip with a 1-1-0-1 record against Rapid City.

For the third consecutive game, it was the Rapid City Rush who jumped ahead to nab an early lead in the first period. Miller beat D'Agostini just 1:45 into the contest, but the resilient Beast found a way to respond.

Chris Leveille accepted a pass just inside the offensive zone blue line and snapped a quick shot through traffic that got by everybody, including Rush netminder Steve Michalek at the 5:31 mark of the first, tying the game at 1-1.

Following an evenly-played opening period that saw both teams score a goal and record nine shots apiece, the Rush upped their game in the second period.

Rapid City peppered D'Agostini with 16 shots in the second frame alone while Brampton could only counter with two in the frame. D'Agostini was sharp and kicked out several grade-A chances but Miller got through his armour with his second of the game at 14:43 to give the Rush a 2-1 edge.

D'Agostini remained rock solid as he faced another 14 shots in the third period. Gustav Bouramman added an insurance tally late in the third period to spoil any Beast comeback attempt.

The Beast will now return home to Brampton and prepare for a School Day game against the Jacksonville Icemen on Wednesday.

NOTES: Molson Three Stars: 3) D'Agostini (BRA) 2) Sivak (RAP) 1) Miller (RAP). The Beast finished the game 0-for-5 on the man advantage and 5-for-5 on the penalty kill.
