BRAMPTON, ONTARIO - Scott Jacklin had a goal and two assists and Chris Driedger made 28 saves in his Beast debut as the Brampton Beast defeated the Norfolk Admirals 4-2 on Friday night at the Powerade Centre.

Brampton and Norfolk were meeting for the first time since 2015 and Brampton came out aggressively to try and open the scoring in front of their home fans.

Norfolk goaltender Ty Reichenbach was up to the challenge and turned away all ten shots he faced in the first frame.

Across the ice, Beast goaltender Chris Driedger was also spectacular and made a number of key saves including a partial breakaway that he denied with the edge of his left toe. He finished with five saves at the end of the scoreless first period.

The second period began and it was Brampton striking first on a quick pair of tallies to put them ahead 2-0.

Stefan Fournier corralled a loose puck behind the Admirals net and was able to deftly swing it around and tuck it shortside past the outstretched pad of Reichenbach to open the scoring at 4:58.

Less than a minute later, former Toronto Marlies captain Alex Foster, who was making his Beast debut, streaked into the offensive zone and ripped a shot through a defenders legs and into the back of the Admirals net. That gave the Beast a 2-0 lead at 5:16 of the second.

Norfolk wasn't going away and had a couple of gorgeous breakaway chances but Driedger had ice in his veins as he stared down the shooter and denied him with a well-placed blocker.

Brampton went into the second intermission up by a pair and dominating in shots by a 27-16 count.

The third began and Norfolk struck first off the stick of Darik Angeli less than a minute in to make it a one-goal game.

Brampton fought back fought back and restored their two-goal lead with a quick strike from Chris Leveille. A shot was launched on net and kicked out into the high crease by Norfolk goaltender Jamie Murray, who took over for Reichenbach following the second Beast goal. Leveille pounced on the rebound and slapped the puck through the legs of the Admirals netminder to give the Beast a 3-1 lead at 7:51.

Not to be outdone, Jackson Leef passed to Jordan Henry who ripped a shot from the point through a forest of sticks and legs and Scott Jacklin got the tip in front to give the Beast a 4-1 lead at 11:08.

Tommy Schutt would score another goal for the Admirals at 15:03 but the Beast would weather the final storm and hold on to preserve the 4-2 win.
