Hershey Bears News Release

HERSHEY, Pa. - The HERSHEY BEARS announced today that defenseman Brett Flemming and forward T.J. Syner have been returned to the ECHL's Reading Royals. The announcement was made by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst.

Flemming, 22, has appeared in 50 games with Reading in the regular season, tallying 15 points (two goals, 13 assists), 77 penalty minutes and a plus-four rating. In 11 games with Hershey this season, Flemming recorded one assist and two penalty minutes. The 5-11, 184-pound native of Regina, SK earned 21 games with the Chocolate and White in his rookie year of 2011-12, posting four points (two goals, two assists).

Prior to turning pro, Flemming played in 147 games in his junior career with the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors (OHL), totaling 105 points (nine goals, 96 assists) and 288 penalty minutes. His plus-60 efficiency rating in 2009-10 set a Majors franchise record and led the OHL, the same season in which he helped Mississauga to a berth in the Memorial Cup finals. He was originally selected by the Washington Capitals in the fifth round (145th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Syner, 24, has accumulated 19 points (nine goals, 10 assists) in 16 games with the Royals this season. In his most recent reassignment, Syner recorded a five-point game which included his first professional hat trick on March 13. With the BEARS, the 5-9, 180-pound native of Springfield, MA has recorded seven points (three goals, four assists) and a plus-one rating in 36 games played in 2012-13.

Syner joined the BEARS late last season following completion of his fourth year at UMass-Amherst (HE). He recorded 97 points (37 goals, 60 assists) in 135 career games with the Minutemen, and was a nominee for the Hobey Baker Award in his senior season.

The BEARS will visit the Syracuse Crunch for a 7:30 PM matchup on Friday, April 5 at the Oncenter War Memorial. The two teams then face off Saturday, April 6 at 7:00 PM at GIANT Center. The first 3,000 fans will receive a BEARS logo golf ball courtesy of Fairview Golf Course. Tickets for the two remaining BEARS home games may be purchased at the GIANT Center box office, by calling (717) 508-BEAR or online at TicketMaster.com.
