Bears Grab Four Of Six Points Over Holiday

November 28, 2011 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Hershey Bears News Release

The HERSHEY BEARS Hockey Club began the holiday week with a 4-3 victory over the Providence Bruins on Wednesday, snapping a four-game winless streak. The BEARS' top line of Keith Aucoin, Chris Bourque and Boyd Kane accounted for two goals and five assists in the win, while defensemen Brett Flemming and Patrick McNeill registered a goal each. Dany Sabourin turned aside 24 shots in earning his fourth win. Friday's battle at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton ended with the BEARS claiming a 3-2 shootout victory, due in large part to Ryan Potulny scoring twice on the power play and in the first round of the shootout in just his second game back from a 1 -month injury absence. Braden Holtby stopped 22 shots in regulation and overtime, and four-of-five in the shootout. Despite Saturday's 5-4 setback to the Lake Erie Monsters, the BEARS had several bright spots, led by Aucoin's second four-assist effort of the season. Bourque added three helpers, Kane scored for the fourth time in five games, Graham Mink lit the lamp twice, and McNeill tallied his second goal of the week. The BEARS hit the road right away for Hartford to prepare for a rare Tuesday night game against the Connecticut Whale. The club then opens the December schedule with a three-in-three this weekend at Syracuse, at home against Portland, and at Bridgeport.

Perfect PP

The BEARS continue their perfection in home power play success, scoring at least one goal in every home game. A 1-for-7 effort on Saturday gives the club a home success rate of 34.6% (18-for-52), and an overall rate of 29.5% (26-for-88).

Bourque Hits Double Digits

LW Chris Bourque scored his 10th goal of the season on Wednesday against Providence. Six of his 10 goals have come on the power play, a total that is tied for second in the AHL. Bourque is also currently riding a five-game assist streak and seven-game point streak, both tied for the current longest in the AHL.

Contributions from the D

Patrick McNeill has been contributing offensively as of late, fashioning a four-game point streak (2+3) and hitting the score sheet in six of his last seven games overall (2+6). McNeill ranks tied for second among AHL defensemen in power-play points (10) and tied for sixth among blueliners in overall points (12).

Aucoin Assists All

C Keith Aucoin added seven more assists and a plus-5 rating in three games this past week. He also earned number-one star honors twice. He now leads the league in helpers (24), power-play assists (11), and is tied with teammate Chris Bourque in power-play points (13). Aucoin enters the week tied for the overall AHL scoring race with 28 points, scored in three fewer games than fellow leader T.J. Hensick of the Peoria Rivermen.
