Beach Bums Shut out by Windy City

TRAVERSE CITY, MI - The Traverse City Beach Bums(24-43) threatened to score in multiple innings but ultimately were blanked by the Windy City Thunderbolts(38-30), by a final score of 2-0. Tonight's loss marks the longest losing streak in franchise history at twelve games.

Windy City got on the board for the first run, with two outs in the third, when Keenyn Walker hit a solo home run over the left field wall. In the fifth, Ransom Lalonde tripled then scored on a Bums error, doubling the Thunderbolts lead. The Bums stranded five men on base in the second, third, and fourth innings but were unable to get the offense rolling.

TJ Santiago picked up the win for Windy City as he evens his record to 3-3. He went a strong seven innings, allowing five hits and a walk while striking out eight. John Havird matched Santiago pitch-to-pitch but fell to 4-5 with tonight's loss. He also went seven, giving up two runs, one earned, on five hits and two walks, and he also fanned eight. Brian Loconsole gave up a walk and struck out three in the ninth for his 24th save.

Tomorrow night, the Beach Bums and the Windy City Thunderbolts lock up for game two of this weekend's three game set. Augie Galllardo will start for the Bums while Drake Robison goes for Windy City. First pitch from Standard Bank Stadium in Crestwood, IL, will be at 7:05pm(EDT) and the voice of the Beach Bums, Tom Willms, will go on the air with the Budweiser pre-game show at 6:45 on 101.9FM- The Bay.
