Houston Dynamo FC News Release
HOUSTON (April 22, 2013)-BBVA Compass Stadium ( www.bbvacompassstadium.com), an AEG Facilities venue, and the Houston Dynamo (www.houstondynamo.com) have teamed up to celebrate Earth Day with a special ticket offer benefiting Hermann Park Conservancy ( www.hermannpark.org), a nonprofit citizens' organization dedicated to the stewardship and improvement of Hermann Park, one of Houston's largest and most loved urban parks.
The $20 Earth Day ticket offer includes a $5 donation to Hermann Park Conservancy. The Houston Dynamo face-off against the Colorado Rapids on Sunday, April 28 at 4 p.m. The $20 Earth Day ticket offer benefiting Hermann Park Conservancy is available online at www.bbvacompassstadium.com.
BBVA Compass Stadium was awarded the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED(r)) Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council in December 2012, and is the first new construction LEED(r) Silver sports facility in the city of Houston.
Earth Day initiatives at the stadium kicked off in March with World Wildlife Fund's (WWF) Earth Hour. For the fifth consecutive year, 58 AEG-affiliated venues in 41 cities, seven countries and four continents across the globe contributed to the largest international environmental effort by turning out all non-essential lights on March 23rd.
BBVA Compass Stadium is committed to on-going conservation efforts including water conservation with low flow toilets and waterless urinals, recycling kiosks around the concourse and recycling grass and landscape clippings.
In 2013, the second AEG 1EARTH sustainability report outlined AEG's progress towards reducing the energy and carbon footprint of the venues in our portfolio. AEG's ongoing commitment to improving venue operations and the effort to identify environmental best practices are important steps to achieving these reductions.
