Baysox Notch Hard-Earned Doubleheader Split
May 24, 2016 - Eastern League (EL1)
Bowie Baysox News Release
The Baysox eschewed the notion of another late loss, scoring twice in the eighth inning to end a six-game losing streak with an 8-6 win in game two of their doubleheader Tuesday night.
Hartford tied the game in the seventh and final regulation inning. With the bases loaded and two down, Raimel Tapia hit a hard groundball that got under the glove of Baysox first basemen Joey Terdoslavich. The error allowed two runs to score to tie the game.
But Bowie bounced back as Terdoslavich walked in the eighth to start the game-winning two-run rally. Bowie got a 1-2-3 inning from Jon Keller to finish it off earning his first save of the year.
Earlier in the contest the Baysox took a 5-0 lead due to two triples. In the third inning, Henry Urrutia tripled home two runs on a line drive over Tapia's head in center. In the fourth, Glynn Davis tripled with two down to right-center to bring home a run. Each Urrutia and Davis later scored.
In the opener, the Baysox registered ten scattered singles in a 3-0 defeat. Bowie starter Jason Garcia worked a complete game six inning effort but the bats could not come up big. Hartford turned three inning ending double plays in the seven inning game.
The Baysox ended a six-game losing streak with the win. Bowie played 40 innings in the last three days with extra inning affairs Sunday and Monday followed by the doubleheader.
Bowie now will have two days off before returning to action Friday, May 27th at 7:05 p.m. against Altoona. LHP Jayson Aquino is expected to start.
The Memorial Day Weekend includes giveaways, fireworks, a helicopter candy drop and much, much more! Get tickets now at baysox.com.
