Harrisburg Senators News Release
The Bowie Baysox scored four runs in the top of the fifteenth inning to beat the Harrisburg Senators 7-3 on Monday night at Metro Bank Park, in the Senators' longest game of the season.
The game ended just before midnight, and officially ran for four hours and 43 minutes. It was the Sens' longest game in terms of both time and innings. It also represented their third straight loss, and dropped their record to 21-23 on the season. With the win, the Baysox improved to 22-22. Reliever Pedro Beato (2-0) earned the win for Bowie, while Yunior Novoa (0-4) took the loss for the Senators.
The four runs in the fifteenth came on four hits, with Brandon Waring and Caleb Joseph of Bowie driving in the runs. The Senators put two men on in the bottom of the frame, but Brandon Cooney closed things out to complete the proceedings.
Bowie had taken a 3-2 lead in the top of the fourteenth inning, but Chris Marrero tied the score at 3 with a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the fourteenth. For Marrero, it was his fourth home run in as many games, and seventh overall on the season. He finished with two hits in the game, and was one of four Senators to record two hits. Danny Espinosa, Marvin Lowrance, and Jhonatan Solano were the others.
Matt Angle led off the game with a solo home run for Bowie off of Brad Meyers, who pitched six innings in his fourth start, allowing two runs. The other came on a solo home run from Ryan Adams, which made the score 2-1. In between, Josh Johnson had driven in Lowrance with an RBI groundout in the bottom of the fifth inning. In the bottom of the sixth, Espinosa hit a solo home run to tie the score at 2. The game stayed tied at 2 from the end of the sixth into the beginning of the fourteenth inning.
The Baysox and the Senators are back at it Tuesday night at 7 PM at Metro Bank Park, for game 2 of their four-game series. Right-hander Andrew Kown (0-0, 1.69) is scheduled to pitch for the Senators, against RHP Tim Bascom (3-2, 3.11) of Bowie.
