Baysox Blast by Curve to Take Game Three, 11-3

CURVE, Pa. - The Altoona Curve surrendered six runs over the fifth and sixth innings in an 11-3 loss to the Bowie Baysox on Friday night at Prince George's Stadium in Game Three of the Western Division Series.

The Curve have dropped back-to-back games to the Baysox to trail the in series, 2-1.

After a three-run bottom of the first for Bowie, the Curve answered with two runs in the top of the second. Barrett Barnes scored when Sebastian Valle grounded into a bases-loaded double play to put Altoona on the board. An RBI single by Eric Wood against Bower starter Chris Lee (Win, 1-0) cut the deficit to 3-2.

The Baysox plated another run against Curve starter Steven Brault (Loss,1-0) in the fourth. Tom Harlan replaced him in the fifth inning and surrendered a three-run homer to Quincy Latimore on the first pitch he threw, the first of his two long balls on the night.

With the bases loaded and no outs, Barnes worked a bases-loaded walk in the seventh.

Bowie extended its lead with four runs in the bottom of the sixth and one more in the seventh to put the game out of reach.

Austin Meadows went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Jacobs Stallings finished 3-for-4.

Brault allowed six runs on nine hits over 4.2 innings. Curve starters in the series are 0-2 with a 9.49 ERA.

Latimore went 4-for-5 with two home runs, two doubles and knocked in five runs for Bowie.

Altoona and Bowie play Game 4 of the best-of-five set on Saturday night at Prince George's Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. Right-hander Jason Creasy (12-8, 4.41) will start on the mound for the Curve. Righty David Hess (1-1, 4.50) is on the hill for the Baysox.
