BayHawks Eliminated from Playoffs with Loss to Knicks

Erie, Pennsylvania - The Erie BayHawks fell to the Westchester Knicks 94-98 this evening despite a commanding 22 point, 17 rebound performance from Dewayne Dedmon.

It was a slow first half with both teams shotting less than 40%. Erie hit three three-pointers while Westchester missed on all of its attempts. Travis Trice II recorded nearly half of the Knicks' points in the first by hitting five of his seven shots for 20 points. Dedmon, on assignment from the Orlando Magic, was a force under the rim, grabbing 11 rebounds and adding eight points before half.

After trading the lead in the beginning of the third, the Knicks pulled away to an 11 point lead after Ra'Shad James hit a three and Devondrick Walker threw down a commanding dunk. Tyler Harvey hit a floater in the closing minute of the third to bring the score to 68-77 in favor of Westchester. The Knicks maintained their lead through the fourth quarter behind 44% shooting compared to the BayHawks' 32%.

Trice II had a game-high 29 points on 15 free throw attempts. Keith Wright added a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds coming off the bench for the Knicks. Jordan Crawford and James each posted 12 points.

Branden Dawson nearly missed a double-double with 22 points and nine rebounds off the bench for the BayHawks. Keith Appling posted 16 points.

The BayHawks are idle until March 10th when they take on the Maine Red Claws on the road. The BayHawks return to Erie Insurance Arena on Wednesday, March 16.
