BayBears Walkoff with Victory over Braves in 13 Innings

MOBILE, AL -- Pitching dominating the game through regulation and into the 13th inning before the the BayBears loaded the bases on a single and two walks and then claimed the victory when Michael Hermocillo was hit by a pitch. With the 3-2 win, Mobile leads the series four games to none with two games to play at Hank Aaron Stadium.

Mississippi (12-26, 46-62) took a 1-0 lead in the fifth. Tyler Neslony doubled to center field to lead off the frame. Travis Demeritte then walked and was thrown out at second on an attempted double steal. Neslony advanced to third on the play. Joey Meneses then walked before Emerson Landoni grounded into a force out, scoring Neslony.

Mobile (19-19, 49-58) scored the only other run in regulation in the bottom of the ninth. Jose Rojas lead off with a double, and then scored on Taylor Ward's single, tying the game at 1-1 and sending it to overtime.

After a scoreless 10th, the Braves regained the lead in the top of the 11th. Dylan Moore led off with a bunt single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Connor Lien. Alex Jackson then doubled, scoring Moore from second to put the Braves out front 2-1.

In the BayBears half of the 11th, Ward and Francisco Arcia drew one-out walks to put runners at first and second for Alberto Triunfel. He hit a sharp grounder to third that Landoni misplayed, allowing Triunfel to reach on the error while Ward scored to tie the game at 2-2. Arcia took second on the play, and after a popout, Michael Hermosillo singled to center fielder Connor Lien who threw out Arcia at home trying to score the game-winning run.

Mobile later scored the game-winning run on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch in the bottom of the 13th. Ward walked and Arcia singled to center, putting runners at first and second. A wild pitch by Danny Reynolds moved them to second and third before the intentional walk to Tim Arakawa. Hermosillo was then hit by the pitch, scoring Ward for the walk off victory.

Max Fried started for the Braves and shut out the BayBears for 4.0 innings, allowing only three hits with one walk and five strikeouts. Wes Parsons relieved Fried and gave up one run on six hits over 6.0 innings with one walk and seven strikeouts. Devan Watts entered the game in the 11th and struggled somewhat, but limited the BayBears to one run on two hits with two walks and a strikeout. In the 13th, the Braves went to Reynolds who took the loss, giving up one run on one hit with two walks and one strikeout.

Game five of the six-game series is set for Wednesday at 6:35 PM. Mississippi will send RHP Andres Santiago (0-1) to the hill. Mobile will counter with RHP Grayson Long (6-6).
