Mobile BayBears News Release

Mobile, AL - Alfredo Marte delivered a two-out, game-winning RBI in the bottom of the ninth inning giving the Mobile BayBears a 6-5 victory over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos Friday night at Hank Aaron Stadium. Wladimir Sutil's timely 2 RBI pinch-hit in the bottom of the eighth inning broke a 3-3 tie and put the BayBears in position for the win. After Pensacola tied the game in the top of the ninth, the stage was set for Marte to come through in the clutch and seal Mobile's 6-5 win.

Third baseman, Matt Davidson set the tone for the BayBear bats, reaching base safely four times after going 3 for 4 with a walk and two runs scored. Mobile put up their first run of the game when Marte drove in David Nick with a two-out, RBI single in the bottom of the third inning. The BayBears picked up another run in the fourth inning when Dan Kaczrowski dropped a RBI single to center, scoring Raoul Torrez and tying the game at two. Pensacola's Ryan LaMarre gave the Blue Wahoo's a 3-2 lead with an RBI single in the top of the fifth but the BayBears would respond with a run in the bottom of the inning and tying the game back up at three runs apiece.

The BayBears took a short-lived lead in the bottom of the eighth with Sutil's 2 RBI at bat, only to be undone by Pensacola's Didi Gregorius batting in two runs with two out in the top of the ninth inning and forcing Mobile to bat in the bottom of the ninth with a 5-5 tie. The BayBears rose to the challenge as Marte found enough room in left to drive the ball out of reach and give Davidson the opportunity to score the winning run as Mobile defeated Pensacola for the third time in four games.

Evan Marshall benefited from Marte's game-winner by earning his first win out of the bullpen and just half an inning after surrendering his first blown save of the season. BayBear starting pitcher Patrick Corbin settled for a no decision after going 7 innings and allowing just 5 hits. Pensacola's Justin Freeman took credit for the loss when he gave up the game winning run.

The BayBears picked up their second walk-off win of the year and second in three games with Friday's 6-5 victory over the Blue Wahoos. Mobile concludes their five game series with Pensacola from Hank Aaron Stadium, Saturday at 7:05 PM. Mobile will send LHP Tyler Skaggs (0-0) to the mound, while Pensacola will start RHP J.C. Sulbaran (0-0). Tickets are available by calling 251.479.BEAR or online at MobileBayBears.com.
