Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release
FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Fort Myers Miracle (5-9) used a season high in runs (10) and hits (13) to beat the Florida Fire Frogs (6-8) on a Women's WINsday, 10-3. Florida Gulf Coast alum and Arcadia native RHP Brady Anderson (W, 1-0) picked up a win in front of his family by tossing three relief innings.
The Miracle began the scoring with a Sean Miller RBI-single in the second inning, but Frogs' DH Alex Jackson launched his fourth home run of the year two innings later to give Florida a 2-1 lead.
Miracle starter Cody Stashak settled in, allowing just the two runs while fanning seven Frogs over his four innings, but a high pitch count kept him from earning the win. Anderson delivered in relief, lasting three innings, surrendering just one run.
The Miracle turned on the bats going in the middle innings, as they got to starter LHP Ricardo Sanchez (L, 0-2). In the fourth, they sent a season-high ten men to the plate. Four separate RBI-knocks gave Fort Myers a 5-2 lead. An inning later, Kevin Garcia delivered his second straight RBI-single. Alex Perez joined the fun with one of his own, and the Miracle took an 8-3 advantage.
Two more runs in the seventh and eighth sealed the deal as LHP Sam Clay shut down the Frigs' offense with two innings of scoreless relief. Chris Paul extended his on-base streak to start the season to 13 games.
The Miracle look for the series win Thursday night with first pitch at 6:35 PM ET. RHP David Fischer gets the ball for Fort Myers, while RHP Touki Tussaint starts for Florida. Fans can enjoy half price domestic drafts on a Thirsty Thursday, and the Miracle will be raffling off unopened packs on 1978-90 Topps baseball cards. The decks could contain cards worth up to $30,000!
