Biloxi Shuckers News Release

BILOXI, MS - National baseball publication Baseball America announced on Wednesday that the Biloxi Shuckers are their 2015 Minor League Baseball Team of the Year.

The Shuckers will be recognized during the BA Awards Gala next week during the Baseball Winter Meetings in Nashville, TN.

The Team of the Year award comes on the heels of earning a MiLB.com's MILBy award of Game of the Year for the home opening victory on June 6, as well as shortstop Orlando Arcia being named Minor League Baseball's Breakout Prospect for 2015. At the end of the season, six Biloxi Shuckers (Michael Reed, Yadiel Rivera, Yhonathan Barrios, Jorge Lopez, Adrian Houser and Tyler Wagner) were promoted to Milwaukee and each made their Major League debuts.

The Shuckers were led on the field by 2015 Southern League Manager of the Year, Carlos Subero. "I am extremely happy and blessed that our group was recognized as the best team during the 2015 baseball season," said Subero. "After managing 15 years in the minors and having managed many great groups of players, this one was truly special."

The Shuckers clinched the first-half Southern Division title with a 47-29 record and a spot in the playoffs. The Shuckers finished the regular season with the best overall record in the Southern League at 78-59.

After sweeping Pensacola in the South Division Series, Biloxi lost the Championship Series to Chattanooga, three games to two. Read Baseball America's story by clicking here.

Pricing for the game will be as follows:

Club Level $45

Box Level $40

Reserved Level $35

Berm/Standing Room $25 (only available after all other fixed seating has been sold)

The prestigious event at MGM Park will mark the first time a Major League team has visited the Gulf Coast since the 1938 Philadelphia Phillies held Spring Training at Biloxi Stadium, which is now on the site of Keesler Air Force Base.
