FORT MYERS, Fla., March 1 - The Phoenix Suns signed Florida Flame point guard Andre Barrett to a 10-day contract today, making him the seventh GATORADE Call-Up of the 2005-06 NBA Development League season and 57th overall since the league began play in November 2001.

Barrett becomes the second player in Florida Flame history to earn a GATORADE Call-Up, following Smush Parker, who was signed to a pair of 10-day contracts by the Suns during the 2004-05 campaign.

The number one overall pick in the 2005 D-League Draft, Barrett currently ranks among D-League leaders in total assists (217, second), total minutes (1,175), assists average (6.6, third), minutes per game (35.6, fifth), and scoring average (17.0, 10th). The second-year pro led Florida in assists in 24 games, led the Flame in scoring eight times, and tallied six double-doubles. Barrett has scored in double figures in all but two games this season and hit 50 percent of his field goals (192-383) in his last 28 games.

The 5-11, 175-pound guard posted a season-high 31 points on 12-21 shooting at Tulsa on January 28, 2006, and notched a double-double with 16 points and team-record-tying 15 assists vs. Austin on Jan. 8.

Barrett split the 2004-05 season in the NBA with the Houston Rockets and Orlando Magic. In 27 games with Houston, Barrett averaged 2.1 points and 1.6 assists in 11.6 minutes per contest. After moving on to Orlando, the New York native out of Seton Hall University averaged 5.6 points and 2.5 assists in 11 games with the Magic.

An AP Honorable Mention All-American as a senior at Seton Hall in 2003-04, Barrett also earned First Team All-Big East honors with the Pirates, averaging a team-high 17.3 points and 5.9 assists per game. Barrett also tallied 19 points and six assists in Seton Hall's NCAA Tournament first round match-up against Arizona. Overall, Barrett posted averages of 15.3 points and 5.4 assists per contest during his four-year collegiate career with the Pirates.

Barrett finished his collegiate career second all-time in school history in assists with 662, third all-time in three-point field goals made with 244 and seventh all-time in scoring with 1,861 career points. Barrett started all 122 career games that he appeared in and played with USA Basketball on the bronze medal-winning USA World University Games Team in 2001 and the Pan American Games Team in 2003.
