Barracuda Sign Defenseman Keaton Middleton

San Jose Barracuda News Release
SAN JOSE - The San Jose Barracuda (@SJBarracuda), proud American Hockey League (@TheAHL) affiliate of the NHL's (@NHL) San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks), and General Manager Joe Will announced today that the club has signed Defenseman Keaton Middleton (@BabyMiddz) to an AHL contract. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"Middleton has all the attributes to become a pro defenseman and his leadership qualities he displayed during his junior career make him an intriguing player for us," said Will. "Like his brother, Jake, Keaton is a hard-nosed, stay at home defender, who has the ability to add offense as well."
Keaton is the younger brother of Sharks prospect Jake Middleton. Jake signed an AHL deal with the Barracuda in 2016-17 before inking a three-year entry-level contract with the Sharks last summer.
The 20-year-old blueliner captained the Ontario Hockey League's (@OHLHockey) Saginaw Spirit (@SpiritHockey) over the last two seasons and skated in 255 games over his four-year junior career, all with the Spirit, collecting 58 points (11 goals, 47 assists) and 217 penalty minutes.
The six-foot-five, 235-pound native of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada skated in the Sharks Development camp in July and the 2018 Vegas Rookie Faceoff earlier this month.
Middleton was originally drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs (@MapleLeafs) in the fourth round (101 overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft.
