Barons Toppled by Biscuits in Series Finale

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The Birmingham Barons bullpen combined for five scoreless innings but the Barons dropped the series finale to the Montgomery Biscuits by a 6-4 final score.
Starter James Dykstra pitched four frames but allowed six earned runs and seven total hits, falling to 4-5 on the season. The California native walked two and struck out four.
Brandon Brennan tossed two scoreless innings of relief, not allowing a hit while adding three strikeouts. Southpaw Brian Clark continued a strong game for the Barons relievers with two more scoreless frames before Nolan Sanburn closed the game with a flawless ninth inning.
Joey DeMichele started the scoring for Birmingham in the first inning, bringing home Eddy Alvarez with a sacrifice fly to cut into Montgomery's early lead.
Brady Shoemaker blasted his second home run since returning to the Barons roster in the fourth inning, making the score 6-2 before a sacrifice fly from Hunter Jones gave the Barons their third run.
Trey Michalczewski drove home the game's final run, plating Keenyn Walker in the fifth inning to close the scoring.
Jordan Guerrero will start a five game road series against the Mississippi Braves Tuesday evening before the Barons return to Regions Field next Sunday evening.
