Birmingham Barons News Release

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Adam Engel posted a pair of runs, walks, and stolen bases, but the Barons dropped a Monday matinee 6-3 to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos in front of 8,285 fans at Regions Field.

RHP Nolan Sanburn made a spot start for the Barons, lasting three innings and allowing just two earned runs before being relieved by James Dykstra. Robinson Leyer and Matt Lollis both pitched a pair of innings out of the bullpen for Birmingham, who won the five game series despite dropping the finale today at Regions Field.

Trey Michalczewski posted an RBI double in the bottom of the first inning to score Eudy Pina and give the Barons a 2-1 lead after one frame. Pensacola jumped out to a 4-2 lead in the middle innings before Eddy Alvarez plated Engel to bring the Barons within one run in the bottom of the seventh.

Tyler Danish, who was announced as the Southern League's Pitcher of the Week for his complete game shutout against Pensacola April 28th, heads to the hill May 4th when the Barons take on the Montgomery Biscuits for the first time this season.
