Barons Set Attendance Record in Lopsided Loss

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The Birmingham Barons once again set a new attendance record at Regions Field, welcoming 8,607 fans for the third record-breaking crowd in the past four home games.
The Barons now average 7,160 fans through 18 home games this season, which leads the Southern League and ranks among the top ten in all of Minor League baseball.
Barons' starter Carson Fulmer surrendered six earned runs in just over two innings pitched, giving up eight hits and walking one batter while posting two strikeouts. He threw 59 pitches, including 35 strikes.
Kyle Hansen tossed 2.2 innings in relief, allowing one earned run on three hits while adding three strikeouts. Reliever James Dykstra followed up with 2.2 innings as well, allowing two earned runs on five hits.
Hard-throwing Robinson Leyer delivered a scoreless appearance to close the game, tossing 1.1 innings without allowing a hit.
Offensively, Nicky Delmonico delivered his eighth home run of the season to put the Barons on the board, and Courtney Hawkins added a double in the 12-3 loss.
Joey DeMichele and Jake Peter delivered RBIs in the ninth inning.
Southpaw David Holmberg takes to the hill at Regions Field tomorrow afternoon, looking to draw the Barons even with the Biscuits in the series. The lone Barons pitcher with MLB experience allowed two earned runs over four innings in his lone start against Montgomery this season.
