Barons Fall Short in 8-3 Defeat

BIRMINGHAM, AL -- The Birmingham Barons scored a pair of late runs but dropped the penultimate game of the series to the Chattanooga Lookouts Sunday afternoon at Regions Field.

James Dykstra took the loss after tossing 6.1 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on nine hits with no walks and five strikeouts.

Peter Tago closed the seventh inning but allowed four runs on two hits with two walks and one strikeout. The California native left the game with an apparent injury after pitching to four batters in the eighth inning.

Euclides Leyer made his AA debut, giving up no earned runs on two hits in two innings pitched after allowing three inherited runners to score.

Trey Michalczewski started the scoring by bringing home Eddy Alvarez in the first inning, but Chattanooga came through with eight straight runs to secure the series victory at Regions Field.

Trailing 8-1 in the ninth inning, Alvarez plated Keenyn Walker with a sacrifice fly for his team-high 61st RBI this season and Marcus Lemon scored Hunter Jones with a ground out to reach today's 8-3 final score.

The Barons and the Lookouts wrap up a five game series tomorrow evening at Regions Field with a 7:05 p.m. Tomorrow's starting pitcher will be announced prior to the game.
