Barone Backstops RiverKings to 4-1 Road Victory

COLUMBUS, Ga. -- Cullen Bradshaw tallied a goal and an assist and Brad Barone stopped 30 of 31 shots against as the Mississippi RiverKings (8-4-0) got back into the win column with a 4-1 road victory over the Columbus Cottonmouths (4-7-0) in Columbus on Friday night.

The RiverKings took a two-goal lead in the opening 20 minutes. Chris Leone took a slap shot from the point off a faceoff that beat Brandon Jaeger early in the first period to put the RiverKings up 1-0. Later in the first, Mike Moran deposited Cullen Bradshaw's one-touch pass past Jaeger to send the RiverKings to the first intermission up 2-0.

In the second, the RiverKings wasted little time adding to their lead. Dillon Fox, just outside of the crease, hammered home a rebound to put the RiverKings up 3-0.

Midway through the second, the Snakes got on the board. Derek Gingera tallied a power play goal when he lifted a rebound past a diving Brad Barone to cut the RiverKings' lead down to 3-1.

The RiverKings regained their three-goal lead early in the third. Cullen Bradshaw's shot from the left-wing side slipped between the legs of Jaeger to put the RiverKings ahead 4-1 as the RiverKings bounce back to take their fifth win in six games.

Brad Barone (4-2-0) stopped 30 of 31 shots against in the win. Brandon Jaeger (2-5-0) stopped 28 of 32 against in the loss. Both teams were held scoreless on three power play opportunities.

The RiverKings return to Landers Center ice tomorrow night for Dachshund Dash against the Knoxville Ice Bears at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com or at the Landers Center Box Office.
