Bark In The Park At Security Service Field Returns
May 10, 2010 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - As the dog days of summer begin to approach, the Colorado Springs Sky Sox are happy to announce that "Bark in the Park" nights at Security Service Field are once again returning for the 2010 season. On three select Wednesdays this season, May 12th, August 4th and August 25th, fans that purchase a ticket to the game can bring their well behaved dogs to the ballpark for free with seating provided for all dogs and their owners on the left field grass berm. Tickets are just $5.00.
A long-standing tradition at Security Service Field, "Bark in the Park" allows all the dog owners of the Pikes Peak Region the opportunity to spend time out at the ballpark with their lovable, four-legged friends. The Sky Sox hold these events in conjunction with the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.
"The Human Society loves to participate in the Sky Sox 'Bark in the Park' because the fans prove time and time again what dog lovers we are here in the Pikes Peak Region. Studies have shown that companion animals are considered family members, and these evenings celebrate the human/animal bond by giving pets and families social time together," said the Humane Society President & CEO, Jan McHugh-Smith.
The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region is the largest animal shelter in southern and western Colorado, serving 34,000 animals a year in both Colorado Springs and Pueblo. This 60-year-old private, non-profit offers community services including humane education, volunteer opportunities, the CATS N.I.P spay & neuter program and a trap-neuter-return (TNR) program for feral cats. For more information, simply visit www.HSPPR.org.
Also supporting the "Bark in the Park" events this season are two new corporate sponsors as Purina Mills will be presenting the event on Wednesday, August 4th and Canidae Pet Foods will be the title sponsor of Wednesday, August 25th.
Fans can purchase tickets for any of these fun games by visiting the Sky Sox website at www.skysox.com or by stopping by or calling the team's box office at (719) 591-7699.
