Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
DAVENPORT, Iowa - The River Bandits lost 6-2 to the Cedar Rapids Kernels on Sunday afternoon at Modern Woodmen Park. Clark Beeker earned his team-leading seventh win for Cedar Rapids. Caleb Hamilton and Ben Rortvedt hit back-to-back homeruns for the Kernels.
Cedar Rapids (2-2, 41-33) took the lead in the first inning. With Travis Blankenhorn at first, Amaurys Minier doubled down the left field line. The Kernels extended their 1-0 lead with three runs in the fourth, highlighted by back-to-back solo homeruns by Hamilton and Rortvedt. Ray Henderson got the Bandits (2-2, 39-33) on the board with an RBI double in the fifth, but the Kernels responded with a two-spot in the top of the seventh to charge ahead 6-1. After the Bandits loaded the bases in the eighth, Ronnie Dawson bounced into a fielder's choice to cut the margin to 6-2 Cedar Rapids.
Beeker (7-2) went 5.2 innings, allowing one run on six hits. Max Cordy and Hector Lujan teamed up to finish the game out of the pen for Cedar Rapids, holding the Bandits to just an unearned run. In the loss for Quad Cities, Blanco surrendered four runs on six hits over 4.2 innings.
