BANDITS RECAP –

Bandits 0, ARKANSAS 1 – Scott Fankhouser turned aside 22 shots and Mike Sandbeck scored the game-winner to help the Arkansas RiverBlades edge the Jackson Bandits, 1-0. Fankhouser stopped 18 shots over the first two periods, but needed to make only four saves in the third period to collect his first shutout of the season. He has now won two straight after a seven-game winless streak (0-6-1). Sandbeck tallied his 12th goal of the season with 63 seconds remaining in the first period for a 1-0 lead and his second winning tally for Arkansas, which held an opponent scoreless for the third time this season. Tyrone Garner stopped 33 of 34 shots for Jackson, which completed its 13-game road trip with a record of 5-4-4.

BANDITS MATCH-UPS –

Florida – The Florida Everblades will be hosting the Bandits in the Bandits home game on Tuesday. Sound odd? It is. The Bandits so far have split the two games against Florida this year, and look to gain two points up on Arkansas and get a playoff berth. Florida is led offensively by Joe Blaznek (27g-25a) and between the pipes by Cam McCormick (9-2-2, .885 goals against average). Game time is 7:35 p.m.

Columbus – The Columbus Cottonmouths will be hosting the Bandits on Friday, as the Bandits look to gain two points in the standings. Columbus, currently ranked last in the Southeast Division, will be looking to spoil any chances of the Bandits getting a playoff berth with the help of goaltender Matus Kostur. The Cottonmouths are led offensively by Brent Cullaton (15g-37a) and Jeff Zehr (19g-22a). The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.

Pensacola – The Pensacola Ice Pilots will be looking to thwart the Bandits playoff hopes and help their own crusade, as they host the Bandits on Saturday. Pensacola has won six of their last ten, but have dropped two of their past three, including a loss to last place Baton Rouge last Friday. Pensacola is led offensively by Greg Pankewicz (34g-32a) and Louis Dumont (17g-44a), and led defensively by netminder Maxime Gingras (22-16-6, .919 save percentage). The puck drops at 7:05 p.m.

BANDITS BITES -

ROAD TRIP – The Bandits are getting ready to hit the road for their 4th annual road trip away from the Coliseum. Due to numerous events at the Coliseum, the Bandits will have to spend 20 games on the road, taking them a whopping 9,411 miles this year. Even traveling at a smooth 70 mph all the way, it would still take over 134 hours to complete this journey. The longest leg of the trip comes February 7,8, and 9 as the Bandits travel to Florida for two games then to Columbus for one. The Bandits are on the road from Tuesday, January 14th until March 13th, and will not have another home game until March 14th against the Baton Rouge Kingfish.
