Bandits Acquire Wilson, Draft Pick from Edmonton
BUFFALO, NY (November 14, 2012) --- Buffalo Bandits General Manager Steve Dietrich today announced that the Bandits have acquired forward Aaron Wilson and a conditional second-round pick in the 2013 NLL Entry Draft in exchange for Jeremy Thompson.
"I'm very excited about joining a great Bandits team," Wilson said. "With the quality of players the team has in place right now, there is no reason why we can't win the Champion's Cup. I look forward to being a piece of the puzzle that tries to accomplish that goal."
A 10-year NLL veteran, Wilson (5'9", 175 lbs., 10/20/80) recorded 31 points (13+18) and 52 loose balls in 16 games with the Edmonton Rush in the 2012 season. He tied for second among Rush players with 14 points (5+9) in the team's three postseason contests.
"With the current uncertainty of our offensive right side, we felt it was important to bring in a right-handed scorer," Dietrich said. "As an excellent goal scorer, not to mention a great off-ball player who will compliment both sides of the offense, Aaron fits that role perfectly."
The Kitchener, Ontario native has totaled 569 points (297+272) points, 740 loose balls and 89 penalty minutes in 155 regular season games with Edmonton, Minnesota, Rochester and Toronto, adding 38 points (15+23) in 10 career playoff games.
"Getting another second round pick in next year's draft, one which is deep and doesn't see us picking in the first round, is important," Dietrich added.
