Baltimore Arena Football Team Announces First Signings

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Baltimore Arena Football team announced the players that have been added to their roster for their inaugural season presented by MedStar Health. The team will play at Royal Farms Arena and will host the Tampa Bay Storm for their home opener on May 7 at 1:00 p.m.

The following players have been assigned to the Baltimore team: rookie DB Alfonzo Dennard, was a 7th round draft pick of the New England Patriots in 2012. In three seasons with the Patriots, Dennard started 20 games and recorded 86 tackles. Dennard was a member of the Patriots team that won the Super Bowl in 2015. A standout at the University of Nebraska, Dennard earned All Big-Ten First Team honors.

Rookie DB Travis Hawkins of Rockville, MD joins the Baltimore team after spending the last two seasons playing in the Canadian Football League. Before playing in the CFL, Hawkins was signed as a free agent with the New England Patriots. He attended the University of Delaware and was named Second Team All-Colonial Athletic Association.

Rookie OL Leon Brown who signed with the Baltimore Ravens prior to the 2015 season has also been added to the roster. Originally from Riverdale, MD, Brown attended the University of Alabama where he won a National Championship.

"We are extremely excited to announce the first signings for the Baltimore AFL team," said head coach Omarr Smith. "It is important for us to build this roster with a good balance of veteran and rookie talent. We like the fact that these players have come from successful programs either in college or in the NFL. We believe that these players are not only good athletes, but quality men and expect great things from them on and off the field."

Second year player OL Kody Afusia who spent the 2016 season with the L.A. KISS was also assigned to Baltimore. Afusia attended the University of Hawaii where he received All-Mountain West Conference honors as a senior. He was joined by OL Ian Joseph who also spent last season with the L.A. KISS. He attended the University of California-Davis where he was an All-Big Sky Conference first team.

Full season-ticket memberships are currently on sale for the inaugural season. Full season tickets start at just $8 per game.
