Pulaski River Turtles News Release

The Yankees (14-16) held on to win another thriller against the Mets (12-18) winning 7-6 and sweeping Kingsport Sunday night. Tyler Honahan picked up the win and moves to 2-0 on the season. He pitched for one inning allowing two hits and one run while striking out three. Jose Carlos Medina was tagged with his first loss of the season to move to 1-1 after pitching for a third of an inning allowing three hits and a run while striking out one. Pulaski will begin a three-game series against the Elizabethton Twins beginning Monday night at 7 p.m. with its Christmas in July promotion.

Both teams had pretty identical games on the night with both adding runs in the second before the epic fourth inning that lasted over an hour between the teams. Starters Julian Aybar and Jordan Humphreys both struggled with their command which resulted in pitching changes and four runs being tallied on both sides to make it five all. However, Pulaski pulled ahead in the fifth. Manny Argomaniz led things off with a single to left before moving to second on a passed ball and tagging on a fly out to reach third. A sac fly from Blake Rutherford brought Argomaniz in to give Pulaski a 6-5 lead until the ninth.

Icezack Flemming started the ninth for the Yankees but was lifted with a 3-1 count on the first batter he faced. Tyler Honahan took over striking out Raphael Ramirez before walking Oliver Pascual. He then struck out Ian Strom to get to Anthony Dimino who singled. Walter Rasquin then singled to right but a throwing error allowed Pascual to score and tie the game at six heading to the home half.

Tim Lynch started things with a single to right followed by a bunt single from Isiah Gilliam to put two ducks on a pond for Argomaniz. He struck out trying to bunt opening the door for Brain Reyes who hit a single up the middle to score Lynch and end the game with a 7-6 victory.
