Binghamton Senators News Release


LAST WEEK: The B-Sens (9-8-2-0, 20 pts.) won two of their three games this past week, including a 4-1 win over Rochester on Thanksgiving.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 22nd vs. ROCHESTER (4-1 W): The B-Sens won their second straight game with a commanding 4-1 victory of the Amerks on Thanksgiving. Ten different players contributed points for Binghamton, as Denis Hamel buried two markers and rookie Nick Foligno added two helpers to lead the B-Sens attack. Justin Mapletoft netted his second shorthanded goal of the year. Netminder Jeff Glass backstopped the Sens with 19 saves to earn his sixth victory of the year.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 23rd @ WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON (3-1 W): The B-Sens rode their penalty kill to victory on Friday night, as the club killed off 11 of 12 penalties in the 3-1 win. Geoff Waugh netted his first AHL goal, a shorthanded tally which extended the B-Sens streak to four straight games with a shorthanded marker. Tyler Donati buried the game-winning goal and Josh Hennessy chipped in with two assists. Netminder Jeff Glass turned away 36 of 37 shots to give Binghamton its third straight win. Niko Dimitrakos scored for the second time in as many nights.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 24th vs. WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON (3-4 OTL): The Penguins responded on Saturday night, snapping the B-Sens three-game winning streak with a 4-3 overtime win. The B-Sens battled back from three one-goal deficits to tie the game. Josh Hennessy buried his fourth marker of the year to make it a 1-1 game. Danny Bois netted Binghamton's second goal of the night, also his fourth of the season, to make it a 2-2 game. Denis Hamel buried the game-tying goal to force overtime with just over four minutes remaining in the third period. Chris Minard buried the game-winning goal for the Penguins at 2:24 of overtime. Defenseman Lawrence Nycholat had two helpers for the B-Sens, which extended his point streak to a season high six games.

THIS WEEK: The B-Sens play three divisional games this week starting on Wednesday against the Hershey Bears. The B-Sens return home for two weekend games, Friday against Bridgeport and Saturday against Norfolk.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 28th @ HERSHEY (7:00): After a slow start the defending Eastern Conference champion Hershey Bears (10-8-0-0, 20 pts.) are back on track, winning six of their last seven games. The Bears have six players with 10 or more points. Leading the way is winger Joe Motzko with seven goals and five assists. Chris Bourque also has seven markers and three assists. Netminder Frederic Cassivi has seven wins between the pipes for the Bears. The B-Sens defeated the Bears 5-2 in their first contest of the season back on Oct. 13.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 30th vs. BRIDGEPORT (7:05): The Sound Tigers have dropped four of their last five games and currently sit in last place of the East Division (7-10-1-0, 15 pts.). Jeff Tambellini continues to lead Sound Tigers with 19 points (6+13=19). Steve Regier has seven goals to lead Bridgeport. The B-Sens defeated the Sound Tigers 5-2 in their lone game this season. Tyler Donati had three points (2+1=3) to lead the B-Sens.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 1st vs. NORFOLK (7:05): The B-Sens defeated the Admirals 5-1 back on Oct. 20. Denis Hamel buried two markers and Danny Bois had a goal and an assist. After a rough start, the Admirals (8-10-0-2, 18 pts.) have won four straight games. The Admirals are led by Kyle Wanvig, who has 11 goals and 15 assist for 26 points. He currently ranks second in the AHL in points behind Teddy Purcell (27). Netminder Jonathan Boutin has six wins between the pipes for Norfolk.

SENS IN THE COMMUNITY:

LAST WEEK: Max the Mascot was at the B-Sens store inside the Oakdale Mall to greet shoppers on Friday, Nov. 23, between 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

UPCOMING: Binghamton Senators' players will team with 99.1 The Whale for the fourth annual Toys for Tots Spaghetti dinner on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at Michelangelo's Pizzeria & Ristorante from 4 to 9 p.m.

SENS SNIPPETS: Netminder Jeff Glass currently leads the AHL in goals-against-average (1.87) and save percentage (0.938). Defenseman Lawrence Nycholat has a team high six-game point streak (1+6=7). Tyler Donati has a three-game point streak (1+3=4). Defenseman Geoff Waugh scored his first AHL marker on Friday, Nov. 23 at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Defenseman Matt Carkner played in his 400th AHL game on Friday night against the Penguins.
