BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators announced today that defenseman Daniel New has been recalled from the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL.
New, 23, has recorded nine points (one goal, eight assists) and is a plus-two through 17 games with the Jackals so far this season.
A native of White Plains, N.Y., New completed his fourth and final season of college eligibility in 2011-12 with Hockey East's Providence College Friars. He played in 36 games recording two goals, 12 assists and 47 penalty minutes.
In four years with the Friars New recorded 39 points (eight goals, 31 assists), while registering 157 penalty minutes in 128 games.
After completing his senior season at Providence College, New signed an amateur tryout agreement with the Springfield Falcons on March 31, 2012. He skated in two games with the Falcons, recording a goal and adding a pair of assists.
In another roster move today defenseman Ben Blood has been reassigned by the club's National Hockey League affiliate Ottawa Senators from Binghamton to the Elmira.
Blood, 23, was reassigned to Binghamton for the fifth time this season on Dec. 18. He has appeared in four games with the B-Sens this season, recording no points.
The 6-3, 232-pound defenseman is a plus-three and has amassed 15 penalty minutes in 17 games with the Jackals this season.
The Jackals return to action tomorrow as they visit the Cincinnati Cyclones at 7:35 p.m.
