WNBF 1290 AM

LAST TIME OUT : Tyler Pill scattered four hits over eight shutout innings and struck out seven as the Binghamton Mets defeated the Portland Sea Dogs, 6-0, on Wednesday to complete a three-game series sweep. Binghamton scored four times in the first inning and led wire-to-wire. Dom Smith was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. L.J. Mazzilli went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run.

BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Rainy Lara will pitch for the B-Mets, looking to bounce back from his first loss of the season. On Saturday, Lara was hit hard by Erie, giving up six runs (five earned) on seven hits over five innings. The five runs equaled the most that a B-Met pitcher had allowed in a start this season. Binghamton lost that game 7-2, the last of a six-game losing streak.

NEW HAMPSHIRE STARTER: RHP Jason Berken is coming off of his worst start of 2016, having given up five runs on six hits in five innings last Friday at Reading. Berken has lost each of his first three starts, but has lasted at least five innings every time he has pitched. He was originally scheduled to start the third game of the season-opening series against the B-Mets but did not pitch in the series after two games were postponed.

STRING 'EM TOGETHER: Binghamton has now won four straight games, its longest winning streak of the season. The B-Mets pitching staff has held opponents to a .149 batting average (18-for-121) and has compiled a 2.00 ERA during the streak. The longest B-Mets winning streak of 2015 was seven games from June 11-18.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN: Binghamton begins a seven-game road trip Friday night, the second road swing of the season. The B-Mets went 3-4 on their first road swing. Friday is the first visit to Northeast Delta Dental Stadium this season, a place in which the B-Mets went 4-7 in 2015. On their next 17 games, 14 are on the road.

TAKE A DAY: After opening the season with 21 straight days with a scheduled game, the B-Mets enjoyed their first scheduled off day yesterday. Binghamton's next day off is May 16.

TO THE SHOW: Former B-Met Michael Fulmer is scheduled to make his MLB debut Friday night for the Detroit Tigers. A supplemental first round pick of the Mets in 2011, New York traded Fulmer to Detroit as part of the deal that made Yoenis Cespedes a Met. The right-hander pitched for both Erie and Binghamton in 2015. He went 6-2 with a 1.88 ERA in 15 starts as a B-Met and 4-1 with a 2.84 ERA in six starts as a SeaWolf.

TABLE SETTER: In four games as a leadoff hitter, Derrik Gibson is batting .435 (7-17) with two runs, three walks and a .526 on-base percentage. His .308 season-long batting average is tied for sixth in the Eastern League.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets and Fisher Cats will start the second of the three-game series Saturday at 5:35. RHP Mickey Jannis starts for the B-Mets against New Hampshire's RHP Jeremy Gabryszwski.
