LAST GAME: After a slow offensive start, the B-Mets rallied to score seven unanswered runs to defeat Erie, 7-2, in the series opener at Jerry Uht Park. Trailing 2-0 in the fifth, he B-Mets got on the board with an RBI double from Cesar Puello. Alonzo Harris tied the game in the next frame with a solo shot to left field. For the game, Harris finished 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. After an Erie throwing error set up a first-and-third situation n the seventh, the B-Mets took advantage and scored four runs to bust the game open. Wilfredo Tovar reached on an RBI fielder's choice, Darrell Ceciliani hit a two-run single, and another run scored on a wild pitch. Three shut-out innings from Binghamton's bullpen sealed the victory. Binghamton starter Erik Goedell allowed two runs on eight hits through six innings to earn his first Double-A win on the mound.

BINGHAMTON STARTING PITCHER: RHP Rafael Montero will make his second start of the season with Binghamton. He was stellar on Opening Day against Akron and earned the win after throwing 5.2 innings, and giving up just one run. He struck out eight batters without walking any. At one point in the game, Montero retired 15 consecutive Aeros. In 2012 between Savannah and St. Lucie, he went a combined 11-5 with a 2.36 ERA. He was ranked the #5 overall prospect in the Mets system by Baseball America prior to the 2013 season.

ERIE STARTING PITCHER: RHP Kyle Lobstein will make his second start in the Tiger's organization. Like Montero, Lobstein is 1-0 on the year after earning a 10-6 win over Altoona. He allowed four runs on six hits over five innings on the mound. Kyle spent the first three years of his professional career in Tampa Bay's organization. After being promoted to Double-A Montgomery for the two starts to end 2011, Lobstein spent all of 2012 with the Biscuits. He ranked in the top five in the Southern League with 27 starts (T1), 129 strikeouts (2), and 69 walks (3). He was selected in the 2nd round by the Rays in the 2008 draft.

HARRIS GOES DEEP: B-Met outfielder Alonzo Harris hit his first Double-A home run yesterday against the Erie Seawolves. He finished 3-for-5 on the game, falling a triple shy of the cycle. In 2013, Harris has started off the year on a five-game hitting streak. Last season with St. Lucie, Alonzo hit eight round-trippers in 116 games.

QUALITY STARTS: RHP Erik Goedell logged the second quality start of the season by a B-Met starting pitcher as he threw 6.0 innings and gave up two runs in last night's win. RHP Logan Verrett also went 6.0 innings in his first start of the season. So far, every Binghamton starting pitcher has gone at least 5.0 innings on the mound.

STEALING BAGS: The B-Mets have gone 6-for-9 in stolen base attempts so far this season. Their six steals have them tied for third in the Eastern League. Daniel Muno and Cesar Puello each have two steals; Cory Vaughn and Josh Rodriguez both have one. Opponents have gone 1-for-2 in stolen base attempts against Binghamton pitchers.

ONE BAD GAME: Through the first five games of 2013, B-Met pitchers have posted a 3.48 ERA, and a 4-1 record. Not including their one loss to Akron (4/7, 13-3) their team ERA is 1.64. Binghamton currently leads the West Division and is tied with Richmond for the best overall record in the league.

THROUGH 5 GAMES: After five games, the B-Mets are 4-1 or better for the 8th time in franchise history. Their best start came in 2000, when they started 5-0. The B-Mets are in their 22nd season, and have not made the playoffs since 2004.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets will finish off their first road trip of the season tomorrow afternoon at 12:35 PM against Erie. RHP Cory Mazzoni will start on the mound against RHP Patrick Cooper. The B-Mets have their first game at NYSEG Stadium on Thursday against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
