BINGHAMTON, NY- The Binghamton Mets and the Portland Sea Dogs combined for 18 runs, 30 hits and five errors as Portland beat Binghamton, 10-8, Saturday night at NYSEG Stadium. Phillip Evans went 3-for-5 and Xorge Carrillo was 4-for-4 to lead the B-Mets attack.

The seesaw affair began with a Sea Dog two-spot in the first inning. Mauricio Dubon singled and later scored on a Cody Decker single. After an error helped prolong the inning, Cole Sturgeon singled in Decker, making it 2-0 Portland.

Binghamton answered in the home half. Matt Oberste smacked an RBI single and Victor Cruzado plated two but was thrown out trying to stretch a single into a double. After one, the B-Mets led, 3-2.

Portland snagged a run in the second as Danny Bethea singled and scored on an Evans throwing error. Amed Rosario cracked an RBI single in the home half and Dominic Smith doubled in another to put Binghamton back on top, 5-3.

The Sea Dogs struck for three more in the third. Rainel Rosario tripled in a pair and then scored on a Bethea sacrifice fly. They got another in the fourth when Mauricio Dubon singled and later scored on a wild pitch to make it 7-5.

Tyler Herron (2-6) was tagged with the loss after allowing six runs, four earned, on seven hits over three innings.

Binghamton got one back in the bottom of the fourth when Oberste singled in Derrik Gibson. The B-Mets would go on to load the bases in the inning but strand all three to leave it at a 7-6 deficit.

Tim Roberson extended the lead with an RBI single to center in the fifth. The B-Mets answered in the bottom half when Evans cranked an RBI double, cutting the lead back to one at 8-7.

Portland got another run in the sixth on a Cody Decker RBI single and one more when Aneury Tavarez singled in Dubon in the eighth. The final Binghamton run was plated in the seventh when Evans singled home Carrillo.

The B-Mets brought the go-ahead run to the plate in the ninth but stranded a pair and fell short. Ben Taylor picked up his fifth save of the season in the process.

Evans went 3-for-5 with two RBI and a double, his fifth consecutive game with a least three hits. Carrillo finished 4-for-4 with a double and two runs scored, his second four-hit game in the past week.

The finale of the three-game series is set for 1:05 PM on Sunday. RHP Rafael Montero will throw for Binghamton against RHP Teddy Stankiewicz for the Sea Dogs.
