Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

LAST TIME OUT: Phillip Evans capped a four-run seventh inning with a three-run homer, vaulting the B-Mets to a 7-5 victory over the Hartford Yard Goats, Thursday night at NYSEG Stadium. Champ Stuart finished 3-for-5 with his first Double-A home run, two runs and a stolen base. Binghamton recorded 14 hits but was out-hit by Hartford, who tallied 15. David Roseboom worked a perfect ninth inning and earned his fourth save in as many chances.

BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Rafael Montero makes his first start with the B-Mets since 2013 after being optioned to Binghamton on Thursday. Montero went 7-3 with a 2.43 ERA in 11 starts as a B-Met in 2013 and went on to make his MLB debut in 2014. He began 2016 with Las Vegas (AAA) and went 4-6 with a 7.20 ERA in 16 starts with the 51's. Montero also made two relief appearances for New York (NL) in April and allowed three runs over 2.1 IP.

HARTFORD STARTER: RHP Zach Jemiola will make the start for the Yard Goats, his third against the B-Mets this season. In his last appearance on 7/7, Binghamton hit him for four runs on five hits in 6.2 innings and he was tagged with the loss in a 5-2 B-Mets win. Overall, Jemiola is 0-2 with a 9.82 ERA against Binghamton, having allowed 12 earned runs in 11 innings over his two starts. After going 4-1 with a 2.47 ERA in his first nine starts, Jemiola is 2-5 with a 6.85 in his last eight.

FEEL LIKE BUSTIN' LOOSE: Phillip Evans' home run in the bottom of the seventh on Thursday was his fourth of the season, one shy of his career-high. He entered this season with 11 career homers, having set his career-high of five with Brooklyn (SS-A) in 2012. Evans is batting .312 in 49 games with Binghamton. He has never hit over .252, which he did for Brooklyn in 73 games in 2012.

DOWNWARD SPIRAL: Rafael Montero allowed at least four earned runs in each of his last eight appearances with Las Vegas (AAA), culminating in a three-inning, ten-run start in his final appearance on 7/6. He went 2-5 with a 10.53 ERA over that stretch.

HIT THE GROUND RUNNING: Amed Rosario went 2-for-4 with a double on Thursday and now has hits in 16 of his 17 games as a B-Met. Rosario is batting .424 (27-68) with six doubles, three triples and 13 RBI since his promotion from St. Lucie (High-A) on 6/22. His batting average is the third highest in all of Double-A over that period.

DOWNRIGHT OFFENSIVE: Since the calendar flipped to July, the B-Mets are averaging six runs per game and are batting .325 as a team. They have tallied at least ten hits in eight of the 12 games. Binghamton has gone 7-5 thus far in July.

SWING A HOT STICK: Five B-Mets recorded multi-hit games on Thursday and Derrik Gibson (seven games), Amed Rosario (six games) and Phillip Evans (five games) all extended hitting streaks.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: Game three of the four-game series is scheduled for 7:05 PM on Saturday.
