Austin, TX - The Austin Spurs today announced that they will host local player tryouts on Saturday, Sept. 24 in Austin. Check-in for the tryout begins at 8:30 a.m.
The Austin Spurs are the NBA Development League affiliate of the five-time NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs. Former tryout participants include current Spur Jonathon Simmons, as well as Eric Dawson, Terrence Woodbury and Devondrick Walker. All have gone on to play overseas, in the NBA Development League and the NBA.
Local player tryouts provide players an opportunity to showcase their skills in front of the Spurs basketball operations staff and local coaches. Attendees compete to earn an invitation to the Austin Spurs training camp in November. The Austin tryouts will be held at the Round Rock Sports Center, 2400 Chisholm Trail, Round Rock, Texas 78681.
Tryout participants should submit the required registration, disclosure and release forms, along with a $150 non-refundable fee prior to Sept 19th. Walkup registration is subject to availability and is $175. Acceptable forms of payment are a cashier's check or money order. Tryouts are limited to the first 100 registered players who submit their completed registration forms and payment.
