Augusta Rallies Late, Rome Falls 7-4

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves fell to the Augusta GreenJackets 7-4 Tuesday morning by a final tally of 7-4. Rome had a two run lead heading into the ninth but Augusta bounced back with five runs to grab the win before a crowd of 4,808.

The GreenJackets got on the board in the second on a two run home run by Miguel Gomez (2). Rome struck back to make it a 2-1 game in the bottom of the inning on an RBI groundout by Lucas Herbert. The Braves took the lead in the sixth following a throwing error allowing Alejandro Salazar to reach base and later scoring on a wild pitch. The other run would come off of a sacrifice fly by Justin Ellison giving Rome the 3-2 advantage. The Braves added another run in the eighth on Justin Ellison's RBI single for the 4-2 score.

Augusta would come charging back in the top of the ninth plating five runs. After a single and a walk, Kelvin Beltre had an RBI single. Following a wild pitch, Jean Angomas added a run scoring base hit that would score another run. After an RBI groundout, Jalen Miller would double to left scoring two more runs making the final score of 7-4.

Ryan Koziol (2-2) gets the win while Dalton Geekie (2-2) is charged with the loss. Ryan Halstead picks up his fourth save of the season.
