Vancouver Canadians News Release

Ron Tonkin Field - Hillsboro, OR- Vancouver's offense got things going early en route to a 14-hit performance that helped beat Hillsboro 6-4. The win is the Canadians third straight and brings them to within five games of North Division leading Everett with three calendar weeks remaining.

Canadians 1B Nash Knight was 4-for-5 with a double, RF Josh Palacios was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and CF J.B. Woodman hit his 2nd home run of the season against the Hops who fall to 2-7 (.222) against Vancouver in 2016. 2B Cavan Biggio delivered the key insurance run of the game for the C's as his single scored Palacios from second base in the top of the 9th inning off of RHP Curtis Taylor (University of British Columbia). The run was the first one allowed by the 4th rounder since he signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Canadians RHP Pat Murphy (3-4) grabbed the win after going 5 2/3 innings, scattering seven hits while striking out five. RHP Gabriel Noyalis allowed three runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to bring the Hops to within one, but the combination of LHP Grayson Huffman (1.0IP) and RHP Nick Hartman (1.0IP) slammed the door on the Hops down the stretch, with Hartman recording his first professional save.

With the victory, Vancouver improves to 7-11 (.389) on the second half of the season, while Hillsboro falls to 10-8 (.556) with 20 regular season games remaining. The win, as mentioned, moves Vancouver to within five games of North Division leading Everett who fell at home to Salem-Keizer 7-0 on Monday night.
