Owen Sound Attack News Release

The three versus six Western Conference Quarterfinal will reach a new intensity when the Owen Sound Attack host the London Knights for game three on Monday, Mar. 28, a 7:00pm puck drop. Plenty of good seats are available at the DJ's Furniture Attack Box Office.

Buoyed by a decisive 2-0 victory in game two, the Attack return to the Bayshore having evened up the series, stealing home ice advantage in the process.

Trailing 1-0 in the series after a 4-1 loss on Friday night, the Attack stuck to their game plan in the series' 2nd contest and shut down London's dynamic offence en route to the win. Owen Sound never once stopped their hard-hitting, shot-blocking efforts, and took ice away from London in all three zones of the rink while gradually wearing down the Knights.

Michael McNiven would also be a big factor in the win, turning aside all 23 shots he faced after stopping 15 of 18 in game one.

Despite only facing 18 shots in the series opener, McNiven has been solid through the first two games and the Attack have followed suit.

Owen Sound outshot the Knights 28-19 in game one before following that performance up by firing 29 shots on goal to just 23 by London in game two.

The Attack have also benefited from a stellar penalty kill through games one and two.

After preventing London from scoring on a pair of power play chances on Friday night, Owen Sound followed that up with a fantastic seven-for-seven performance on the penalty kill in game two.

And while the defensive aspect of the game is clicking for the Attack, the team will look to ramp up their play in the offensive zone as the series returns to the

In game one, Petrus Palmu would score Owen Sound's lone goal, although the team would have found the back of the net more if it weren't for a trio of shots that went off of the post. Thomas Schemitsch and Jonah Gadjovich would register assists on Palmu's goal.

On Saturday night, former London forward Josh Sterk would score the game's opening, and winning goal on assists from Damir Sharipzyanov and Ethan Szypula. Kevin Hancock would round out the scoring on the evening by picking up an empty net goal to ice the game.

Through two contests, London is led offensively by Max Jones who registered a goal and an assist in game one of the series. Also scoring for the Knights were Mitchell Marner, Cliff Pu, and Aaron Berisha.

Prior to Monday night's game, the Owen Sound Attack will welcome Owen Sound native and 2014 Olympian Larisa Yurkiw to the ice for a ceremonial puck drop. Yurkiw, a member of Alpine Canada's Downhill team, made her debut on the world scene at age of 18 and has since become a mainstay on the World Cup scene.

Fans can purchase tickets for Monday's game, as well as Wednesday night's game 4, at the DJ's Furniture Attack Box Office, online at www.attackhockey.com, or by calling 519-371-7452.
