January 22, 2016 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL)
Atlanta Blaze News Release

Prior to the start of the 2016 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft, the Atlanta Blaze executed a trade with the Boston Cannons. The Blaze acquired Defenseman and Marrietta (GA) native Scott Ratliff from the Cannons along with the #15 overall pick in the 2016 MLL Draft and a third-round pick in the 2017 MLL Supplemental Draft. In exchange, the Blaze send Defenseman Brodie Merrill, mid-fielder Mike Pellegrino, mid-fielder Justin Turri and their first round pick in the 2017 Collegiate Draft to the Cannons.

Ratliff, 6'0", 218 pound Defenseman, was a second round selection by the Cannons in the 2013 MLL Collegiate Draft. One of the Cannons tri-captains in 2015, Ratliff played in all 14 regular season games while leading the team to the playoffs. He scored a career high eight goals in 2015 including a career high three 2-point goals.

Ratliff was a member of the 2012 NCAA National Championship at Loyola University (MD). He was named to the 2012 All-America Second Team by Inside Lacrosse's Face-Off Yearbook. As a junior, he earned USILA All-America Third Team honors, becoming the first player from the state of Georgia to earn lacrosse All-America recognition.

"The Atlanta Blaze is excited to have Scott Ratliff in a Blaze uniform and play in his hometown" said team owner Peter Trematerra.  "Scott is an active member in the Atlanta community and will be a tremendous addition to our team."

"Scott is a great addition to the Blaze and is one of the most outstanding defensemen in the MLL" said Atlanta Blaze Head Coach John Tucker. "Scott was a captain on our Cannons team in 2015 and is a proven leader. I look to him to provide similar leadership as part of the Blaze."
