Fargo Force News Release

Former Fargo Force defenseman, Jere Astren, has committed to Clarkson University for the fall of 2016.

Astren, a defenseman out of Helsinki, Finland, began the 2015-16 USHL season with the Chicago Steel, where he played in 25 games scoring one goal and adding two assists. He was traded to the Force midway through the season and became one of Fargo's top defensemen. He played in 34 games tallying 10 points with six goals and four assists. He ranked third in scoring amongst defensemen on the team. He recently de-committed from the University of Wisconsin and re-committed this past week to Clarkson. He will join former assistant coach Josh Hauge who is currently coaching at the University.

"Clarkson has picked up a really good D-man in Jere," said head coach Cary Eades. "He came to Fargo in mid-January and immediately had an impact in helping the Force with our second half surge. Defensively he was a physical presence (63 PIM's) in helping stabilize our D-corp and was a key contributor to the team's seven shutouts. Offensively, Jere had a plus/minus rating of +10, and had six goals and 10 points in 34 games. The native of Finland proved he could "finish", as three of his goals were OT game-winners."
