SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Springfield Armor, presented by MGM Springfield, announced Sunday that guard L.D. Williams has been activated and, in a corresponding move, guard Bruce Massey has been deactivated.
A two-time NBA Development League Dunk Contest champion, L.D. Williams has played 72 games (68 starts) in an Armor uniform over two seasons in Springfield (2010-11, 2011-12). Williams holds career averages of 14.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists with the Armor after being selected with the 28th overall pick in the 2010 NBA D-League Draft by Springfield. A four-year starter at Wake Forest, Williams became the only player in school history to earn multiple ACC All-Defensive Team awards and helped lead the Demon Deacons to two NCAA Tournament appearances. Williams finished his Wake Forest career fifth all-time in career starts (118) and 11th in steals (136).
In a corresponding move, the Armor have deactivated guard Bruce Massey prior to Sunday's game. Massey was averaging 4.0 points and 1.9 rebounds per game over 15 appearances (four starts) with Springfield this season. Massey was selected by the Armor in the eighth round of the 2013 NBA D-League Draft.
The Armor will finish off a weekend set against the Canton Charge today at 3:00 p.m. inside the MassMutual Center before traveling to Erie for a midweek match-up Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. Springfield will return home on Friday, January 24 for a 7:00 p.m. game against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on the team's annual 'Paint it Pink Night.'
