Jacksonville Armada FC News Release

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - With its third season officially underway, Jacksonville Armada FC has promoted Marshall Happer to chief operating officer, the club announced Thursday. Happer was appointed by the North American Soccer League (NASL), which took over ownership of Armada FC in early 2017.

A former NFL executive, Happer helped launch Armada FC, previously serving as the club's senior vice president of club and team operations. He has been with Jacksonville since it kicked off NASL play in front of a crowd of 16,164 at EverBank Field on April 4, 2015.

Happer will lead the club's day-to-day business efforts and manage its front office staff. Under the current ownership landscape, all Armada FC assets have been transferred to the NASL. The Jacksonville Armada FC Youth Academy will continue to operate as its own separate non-profit organization.

"It's an honor to lead this club and continue to bring high-level soccer and quality entertainment to our loyal fans here in Jacksonville," Happer said. "The team is off to an undefeated start on the field, the front office is eager to connect with the community in new and exciting ways, and the move to Hodges Stadium - a new facility for us - has been extremely well-received by the Armada FC faithful."

As the current owner of Armada FC, the NASL is actively pursuing committed, long-term investment for the club, and discussions with interested groups are underway.

"The NASL is a strong believer in Jacksonville as a professional soccer market and Armada FC as a club," said NASL Interim Commissioner Rishi Sehgal. "We're very excited to have Marshall, a true veteran of the sports industry, leading the club on the business side, and a great young coach like Mark Lowry continuing to take the team to new heights on the field."

Armada FC fans created a special atmosphere at Hodges Stadium during the first two home games, and the team has responded. With seven points, Coach Lowry's men currently sit atop the NASL Spring Season Standings. First-place Jacksonville travels to New York to face the defending champion Cosmos on Saturday at 7 p.m. The game can be seen live on beIN SPORTS USA nationwide.

The club's next home game comes on Saturday, April 29 when Indy Eleven pays a visit to Hodges Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., and fans can purchase tickets online at armadafc.com or over the phone at 844-2-ARMADA.
