NEW YORK – The Arena Football League set a total-attendance record with 1,920,405 fans attending regular-season and postseason games in 2004. The total marks an increase of 21 percent over the previous mark of 1,587,412 set in 2003.

Including total attendance, seven AFL attendance records were set this season. The AFL reached one million fans faster than in any previous season (81 games vs. 88 in 2003) and Week 1 (128,175 total; 14,242 average) broke four AFL attendance records – highest Week 1 total, highest Week 1 average, highest total for any week, and highest average for any week. The AFL also set a record for the regular-season total attendance with 1,827,623 fans. The figure is 25 percent higher than the previous regular-season record of 1,458,830 set in 2003.
