Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Miami Marlins announced a series of transactions that impact their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Suns roster prior to today's game against the Mississippi Braves at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville at 3:05 p.m.

Right-handed relief pitchers Scott Lyman and Victor Araujo have been transferred from Jacksonville to High-A Jupiter. Lyman pitched in six games, making one start for the Suns going 0-1 with a 5.73 ERA in 11 innings pitched. Araujo went 1-1 with a 3.29 ERA in eight appearances with a save for the Suns.

In corresponding moves, right-handed pitcher Tyler Bremer has been transferred from Batavia to Jacksonville, and right-handed pitcher Chris Mazza has been transferred from High-A Jupiter to Jacksonville. Bremer previously pitched with the Suns this season, going 1-1 with a 1.80 ERA and one save in six relief appearances.

This is the first call-up to the Double-A level in Mazza's career. Mazza with the Hammerheads was 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA in seven relief appearances, with eight strikeouts in 15 innings pitched. Mazza was signed by the Marlins as a minor league free agent last season after previously pitching in the Minnesota Twins organization.

The Suns roster now stands at 25 active players.

The Suns continue their series with the Braves at 3:05 p.m. Sunday, when Suns left-hander Chris Reed (1-1) is scheduled to face Braves right-hander Rob Whalen (1-2). Gates open at 2 p.m. for Baptist Health Sunday Family FUNday, also presented by Channel 4 The Local Station. Kids and their families can play catch on the field before the game, a Suns player will read a children's story, and kids can run the bases after the game. For Southpaw's birthday, members of the mascot fraternity, including Billy the Marlin and Jaxson de Ville will help celebrate Southpaw's big day.
