Being one of 27 men in MLB history to be a part of the exclusive "300 Saves Club", Jason Isringhausen was one of the most efficient closers in the game during his sixteen-year professional career. Isringhausen was drafted in the 44th round of the 1991 MLB Amateur Draft. He began his career in 1995 with the New York Mets as a starting pitcher, finishing fourth in the Rookie of the Year voting. Jason was converted to the closer position after being traded to the Oakland A's where he made his first All-Star appearance during his first full year playing the position. In 2002, Isringhausen joined the St. Louis Cardinals bullpen experiencing tremendous success with St. Louis for the next 7 years. It was during this time he collected 217 of his 300 career saves. From 1995 to 2012, Isringhausen pitched over 1,000 innings and tallied 830 strikeouts in the show, eventually joining the "300 Saves Club" on August 15, 2011. Whenever "Black Betty" comes on, Cardinals' fans think back to the Cardinals' all-time saves leader. Jason has stayed around the game, by doing instructing work with the Cardinals' farm system. Isringhausen was enshrined into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in 2016.
