Anaheim Ducks Sign Josh Mahura to Three-Year Entry-Level Contract

SAN DIEGO - The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed defenseman Josh Mahura to a three-year entry-level contract. Per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Mahura, 19 (5/5/98), recorded 17-3653 points with a +17 rating and 57 penalty minutes (PIM) in 73 games with Regina and Red Deer of the Western Hockey League (WHL). He set career highs in goals, assists, points, plus/minus and appearances, while ranking sixth among WHL defensemen in goals and tied for fourth in power play goals (8).

Selected by Anaheim in the third round (85th overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft, Mahura helped Regina to its first 50-win season as the club reached the WHL Championship series vs. Seattle. The 6-0, 189-pound blueliner recorded 8-1321 points with a +7 rating in 23 playoff games, all representing postseason career bests. Mahura led all WHL defensemen in playoff goals and ranked third in scoring and assists.

A native of St. Albert, Alberta, Mahura has registered 19-4362 points with a +8 rating and 77 PIM in 126 career WHL games. Mahura also won a gold medal while representing Canada at the U18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial tournament in 2016, scoring one goal (1-01) in four games.
