Anaheim Bolts Join Professional Arena Soccer League
Anaheim, California- Today the Anaheim Bolts officially entered the Professional Arena Soccer League during a press conference held at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena, also the new home for the team.
On hand for the event were Tom Morton, Executive Director of the Anaheim Convention Sports and Entertainment Department, Kevin Milliken, Commissioner of the Professional Arena Soccer League, and Bernie "The Bolt" Lilavois, Managing Partner and Head Coach.
Many members from the media were in attendance including nearly 100 fans, family and friends of the Bolts. The announcement stirred enthusiasm and passion for the new club while simultaneously challenging a few members of the San Diego Sockers Organization (the defending PASL Champions) that were on hand in the crowd. "We plan on hanging banners (championship banners) on the North side and when that is full, we will hang them on the South end," said Tom Morton.
Head Coach Bernie Lilavois said afterwards, "We really are excited to get the season started and it should be a great rivalry with San Diego, but there is a lot of work to be done before the season starts in November. We will begin our community outreach programs and really start to spread the word about the team to the surrounding areas to let them know that professional indoor soccer is back in the great City of Anaheim."
The Anaheim Bolts are now the newest member of the Anaheim Sports community. The last time professional indoor soccer called Anaheim home was in 1997 with the now defunct Anaheim Splash. The Bolts will kick off their inaugural season this coming November of 2011 at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena.
