Rochester Americans News Release
***This Week's Top Storylines***
*After winning just one of three to open their 61st season, the Amerks have now won two straight to climb into third place in the AHL's North Division standings. Rochester began the weekend with a decisive 5-2 win over the visiting Toronto Marlies, who last season claimed seven of eight meetings with the Amerks. Rochester then closed the weekend by winning in dramatic fashion, scoring twice in the final minute of regulation to escape Binghamton with a 3-1 win over the Senators.
*Cole Schneider enters the week tied for second in the AHL in scoring after posting back-to-back multi-point games while helping the Amerks to a pair of wins over the weekend. He's also currently tied for third in assists (5) and sixth in goals (3). The Williamsville native if off to his best start in his career, recording two points or more in three of Rochester's first five games this season, including a career-best four-point effort (2+2) back on Opening Night. On Saturday, he scored the go-ahead goal with 45 seconds remaining in regulation in Binghamton to ultimately give Rochester a 3-1 win over the Senators. The Amerks are a perfect 3-0-0-0 when Schneider records a point.
*The Amerks embark on their first road trip of the season this coming weekend as they travel to St. John's, Newfoundland for a two-game set against the IceCaps at Mile One Centre.
