Amerks Sign Justin Danforth to One-Year American Hockey League

The Rochester Americans announced today that the team has signed forward Justin Danforth to a one-year American Hockey League contract for the 2017-18 season.

Danforth, 24, scored two goals in five games with the Amerks on an Amateur Tryout last season following a brief three-game stint with the ECHL's Reading Royals. While with the Royals, he notched three points (1+2) in three games, including his first pro goal on March 10. He also appeared in one AHL contest for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

Prior to turning pro, the 5-foot-9, 180-pound forward closed out his senior season at Sacred Heart University (AHA) with a team-high 32 points (10+22) in 37 games for the Pioneers while serving as an alternate captain. The Oshawa, Ontario, native amassed 124 points (42+82) in 147 career games at Sacred Heart, where he led the team in scoring as a freshman, junior and senior. He was named the AHA Rookie of the Year in 2013-14 and also earned a spot on the AHA All-Rookie Team. He was later selected to the Atlantic Hockey All-Conference Second Team following his junior season and was also named the AHA Player of the Month for January 2016. Danforth finished seventh all-time in program history with 124 points and fifth all-time with 82 career assists.
