Amerks Lose Sekera To Buffalo

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Americans General Manager Jody Gage announced today that the Buffalo Sabres have recalled defenseman Andrej Sekera and the Florida Panthers have reassigned defenseman Franklin MacDonald to the Florida Everblades (ECHL).

Sekera receives his second NHL recall of the season after registering one goal and five assists for six points in 10 games with the Amerks. With Buffalo, the Bojnice, Slovakia, native has one assist and six penalty minutes (PIM) in 11 games. Sekera is expected to dress in tonight's National Hockey League contest against the Washington Capitals. The Amerks' second-year blueliner made his NHL debut on October 19th against the Columbus Blue Jackets. He notched his first NHL point with an assist in Buffalo's 4-2 win over the Florida Panthers on October 26th

MacDonald departs from the Flower City after receiving his first promotion to the American Hockey League this season. The 22-year-old defenseman recorded two points and six PIM in five games with Rochester. This season with the Everblades, MacDonald has tallied four points (1+3) and 10 PIM in eight appearances.

Rochester's two-game road weekend kicks off on Friday, November 30th as Rochester will head north to the Verizon Wireless Arena to take on the Manchester Monarchs in the first of two meetings between the non-division foes this season. The 7:05 p.m. contest will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks. Rochester holds a 2-0-0 all-time record against the Los Angeles Kings' affiliate.

The following night, Rochester will begin its December schedule as it travels east to face Rochester native Chris Collins and the rest of the Providence Bruins at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The 7:05 p.m. matchup will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks. The game will be the second and final meeting between the squads this year. In their previous meeting, the Boston Bruins' affiliate skated past the Amerks to a 4-3 victory on October 13th at The Blue Cross Arena. Rochester is 11-13-1 all-time against Providence.
