Amerks Begin 61st Season this Weekend against Pair of Longtime

Rochester, NY-The Rochester Americans usher in the 2016-17 American Hockey League season this weekend with three games in as many nights against two of their longtime rivals. The Amerks open their historic 61st season in the AHL on Friday, Oct. 14 when they meet the Hershey Bears in their Home Opener at 7:05 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena before closing out the three-in-three weekend with a home-and-home series against the Syracuse Crunch. On Tuesday, Oct. 11, the Amerks coaching staff along with select players will join members of the Amerks front office staff at 1:00 p.m. to once again deliver season tickets to fans and corporate partners throughout the greater Rochester Area. The following night, The Distillery, a longtime sponsor of the Amerks, will host its annual Meet the Players Party at the restaurant's Mt. Hope location on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. as the Amerks get set to open the 2016-17 American Hockey League season.

Amerks Head Coach Dan Lambert and the players will be on hand at the event to meet fans and sign autographs. The Distillery will offer food and drink specials throughout the event, such as half price pizzas, $2.75 pints of beer and half-priced wine by the glass while fans can spin the prize wheel for the chance to win great prizes from the Amerks and Distillery.

The opening night festivities begin with a special one-hour Genesee pregame party starting at 5:00 p.m. exclusively for Amerks Season Ticket Members at the Genesee Brew House Upper Atrium Bar (Hall of Fame area), featuring light appetizers and drink specials with live music from Strictly Hip. Fans 21 and older can enjoy Genesee and Genesee Light drafts for just $2. The doors to the general public will open at 6:00 p.m. Strictly Hip will also perform during the first intermission of Friday's game. Friday's Home Opener will also feature the first "Mystery Puck" of the season, where a limited number of "Ready Your Shield" Amerks pucks, signed by various players, will be for sale. Fans in attendance will receive a 2016-17 Amerks magnet schedule courtesy of Perry's Ice Cream. Zweigle's will be providing a limited number of special product packages for fans as an exit handout following the game in the Lower Atrium. Prior to the game, there will be special pre-game introductions of this year's team on the ice. Amerks "Ready Your Shield" T-Shirt Packages are still on sale for Opening Weekend. For just $25, fans can purchase an Amerks "Ready Your Shield" T-Shirt, along with one best-available ticket to the team's Home Opener on Friday, Oct. 14 against Hershey. Additional Home Opener tickets can be purchased starting as low as $14 as part of the package. Following Sunday's game versus Syracuse, Amerks players will be available for a special Meet & Greet session with fans in the Hall of Fame area that will last approximately 45 minutes. The Democrat and Chronicle Media Group will provide an Amerks autograph poster for fans. The 2016-17 regular season begins Friday, Oct. 14 when the Amerks host the Hershey Bears at The Blue Cross Arena at 7:05 p.m. Season Ticket Memberships, which start as low as just $10 per game, are on-sale now.
